Approximately 1,3 million euros in youth recruitment subsidy is still available. A company, association, or foundation that hires a young person for at least three months can receive a recruitment subsidy of up to 1 500 euros per month, as well as a cash bonus for completing a one-year employment contract. The purpose of the subsidy is to encourage the hiring of young people and increase youth employment. There are 4 200 young people in Jyväskylä and Muurame who are eligible for the subsidy.
The youth recruitment subsidy is intended for hiring unemployed job seekers aged 18–29 who are residents of Jyväskylä or Muurame. It is enough that the young person is unemployed at the time the contract is signed. A total of 200 000 euros in youth recruitment subsidy has already been granted for hiring young people. There is still 1,3 million euros in recruitment subsidy remaining.
The eligibility requirements for state-funded youth recruitment subsidy have been relaxed, effective July 1, 2026. In addition to companies and employers, associations and foundations can now apply for the subsidy, even for activities other than economic ones. As a result of this change, the subsidy can now be obtained for employment relationships as short as 3 months.
The City of Jyväskylä’s employment services have approximately 4 200 young people registered as clients who are eligible for the subsidy.
