The City of Jyväskylä supports young people in starting their own enterprises
The City of Jyväskylä is now also supporting young people taking their first steps in entrepreneurship through a joint pilot training program with the local 4H association.

In a joint pilot training program organized by the City of Jyväskylä and the Jyväskylä Region 4H Association, the association provides training in entrepreneurship to young people aged between 13 and 28. The City of Jyväskylä provides a small business grant to new 4H entrepreneurs.

The pilot training program is open to 60 young people who want to try entrepreneurship as 4H entrepreneurs. The goal of the training is to equip young people with the skills they need to launch their own businesses.

The training covers key aspects of entrepreneurship: developing a business idea, creating a business plan, pricing, marketing, invoicing, bookkeeping, workplace safety, insurance, establishing a 4H enterprise, and the basics of taxation and reporting.

Before the training begins, the young person is met in person to go over the key aspects of starting a business.

"The support encourages young people to try entrepreneurship, increases local employment opportunities, and offers young people the chance to gain entrepreneurial experience. The 4H Association’s training helps young people develop workplace skills and entrepreneurial abilities. In addition, even a small financial incentive supports young people’s motivation and commitment to developing their business activities", says Heidi Nygård, Business Services Manager for the City of Jyväskylä.

The City of Jyväskylä encourages young people to become entrepreneurs

This year, the City of Jyväskylä is providing a business grant of 100 euros to young people who have started a 4H enterprise. To be eligible for the grant, the business must have generated at least 100 euros in revenue this year.

A total of 60 young people aged 13–28 who have established a 4H business in 2026 are eligible for the grant this year.

A young 4H entrepreneur can earn between €50 and €8,000 per year. You can continue your business activities as a 4H entrepreneur for as many years as you wish, up to the age limit of 28. You can join the 4H Association’s training program by contacting your local 4H Association.
